THE REVOLUTIONARY STUDENTS FACE THE KHADAFIST OFFICIALS AND PROFESSORS

6/23/2012

After 3 weeks of the students of Engineering school in the University of Banghazi of occupaing it, the classes were restarted. It is that everyone who was conclusively proved to have served as a snitch in Qadafy’s regime was separated from the University. But four professors who committed abuse against students weren’t. They also couldn’t find other professors to open parallel courses. That’s why they took them some kind of oath in which they promised not to do any abuse and they let them stay and, under that condition, return to classes.
Apparently, this solution did not please some students that fought in the front against Qadafist troops. It is said that they were moved by the blood of the martyrs and the fire of what meant the Libyan revolution, for a group of students wrapped 4 Kalashnikov bullets in a letter and sent it as a message to the university authorities. In the letter they threatened the 4 professors and the university authorities to apply the revolutionary Libyan methods, and they criticized the newly-formed student council for returning to classes without a true solution to this issue.
The student council made it clear that it wasn’t them, that they don’t even know who it was and that they don’t support this action. They even handle the possibility that it was one of the 4 professors in question (or the 4 of them), since they see the event as a setback in the construction of the students’ organ. They even say that it could have been a student who didn’t want to return to classes so as not to study.
It is that they were almost a year and a half without classes and now it was already agreed and arranged the return to classes and under what terms, when they encountered this event.
They say that the event was on June 21. They, along with the authorities (who had the keys) opened the offices at 1 pm and returned at about 3:30 p.m. and they found that they couldn’t open a door because it was obstructed by 4 bullets, that were together with the mentioned letter.
The student council immediately issued a meeting stating that they had nothing to do with it and they didn’t take charge. It is that they say they can’t risk the new organization, since they see it is just being born and it can’t face such clash. An organization that is independent from the government is something new in Banghazy, and its goal is to seek what is best for the students. But this position could leave alone the students who took actions following their revolutionary instinct, or any other student that is accused and prosecuted for this event.
It is commented that the decisions that the student council has adopted of accepting the plan presented by the university authorities to return to classes weren’t asked to the students calling an assembly. Probably, if that had been the case, all the students could have expressed themselves and took a decision as a whole, that would have been accompanied by all. And this decision could have been anything: from agreeing to return to classes to sending the threat letter, even continue the occupation until the issue with the 4 professors is solved, the one that the majority of students thinks is better, and they would have the possibility to follow a way in common based in a decision from all of them.
Anyway, the student council continues its work of strengthening their organization. Its leader claimed that before there were frictions between the professors and the students and that he was seeking that they all work together for the sake of the university and education. He also made it clear that, in that way, from all the promised air-conditioners 4 are already installed and working and that there are still 5 to go, and that already are 10 water dispensers.

Letter from the students in the Committee for Syria of Argentina to the students in Bengasi:

Comrades students from the Engineering school in Bengasi:

We are students members of the Committee in support of the Syrian masses, in Argentina. First of all, we salute your huge struggle against the murderer Ghadafi, as an example of how we have to fight around the world against the exploiters; fight that today is continued against the former ghadafists of the NTC, and in particular in the university against Ghadafi professor caste.
From Argentina, where we formed the committee, we consider ourselves part of your fight and the one of all the workers and exploited from the Syrian People, that continue resisting heroically after more than one year of uninterrupted slaughter, with bombing, rapes and tortures to women and innocent children. The resistance still have their guns and today continues the offensive fight at the gates of Damascus against the elite forces of Al Assad. We set up this committee in response to the emergency call (in March) of the workers movement and the revolutionary militias in Libya to break the isolation, fence and silence, imposed to the revolution in Syria and all North Africa and Middle East from every counter-revolutionary and pro-imperialist leadership from all over the world that speak in the name of the working class and do nothing for the massacred workers. All this so that their Syrian brothers don’t follow the road that you showed the world: break the army, arm yourselves and cut the head of the dictator.
In this fight to break the fence and to act in solidarity in a real and material way with the Syrian militias, we face the ghadafists in Latin America: the CHAVEZ, the CASTROs, the KIRCHNERs and all the bolivarians and their servants, that slander you calling you terrestrial troops of NATO. Today they don’t move a finger and make silence before the massacre; in the same way, they support the attempt of the NTC of setting up a ghadafist government without Ghadafi.
Fellows, we have been conducting all kind of actions, one of them was an act in the Philosophy and Letters school in the University of Buenos Aires where we contacted the militias in Tripoli’s port. We have been giving this political fight in support of the Syrian people, against all the reformist and pro-ghadafist currents: in internal commissions, factories, student councils and workers’ assemblies. As a sub-product of this combat in the workers and students organizations, that in spite of the opposition of the parties that turn their backs on the Syrian people, we managed to get a measure of great importance to break the fence: a demonstration to the Syrian embassy in Argentina. After what this committee considered a big accomplishment, as the march was, we started to receive expressions of support from different people around the world, that take the struggle of the Syrian massacred people in their hands. From Palestine, Spain, Chile, France and Australia we received messages from persons and organizations that are willing to do all they can for the victory of the revolution.
In that sense, we see the need to centralize at an international level all the possible actions in support of the Syrian people, as the best way to concrete that support so that we can contribute to the triumph of the revolution and in that way avoid their expropriation by those worms of the NSC and their colonels from the free Syrian army that are far away from the battlefield and that have never thrown a single shot. That’s why we are promoting a call to set up an International Committee in Support of the Syrian Masses. This call is already in your hands and in discussion in dozens of workers and students organizations from all over the world and we send it to you in a special way since you are in the first line of combat with the brigades that leave to Syria from Libya and fight in the streets of Homs, Deraa, Damascus together with your class brothers. We are convinced that in your hands this call will have an unquestionable value so that together we redouble the efforts for this Committee to be a war cry in favor of the Syrian people. Comrades, you have all the authority to lead this call and that this committee to be formed hold its sessions in Bengasi, our revolutionary forces are at your disposal to make it happen.

LET’S FIGHT TOGETHER COMRADES!
LONG LIVE THE LIBYAN REVOLUTION!
LONG LIVE THE SYRIAN REVOLUTION AND THE REVOLUTION OF NORTH AFRICA AND MIDDLE EAST!
NOT EVEN ONE STEP BACK!
