March 2012

When NATO bombed Benghazi, the revolutionary masses had already defeated the troops
of bloodthirsty Qadafy

Four months after the execution of the dictator Muammar al kalb Qadafy echoes of the insurgency are still resonating in Benghazi.  A fighter, referring to the CNT, says: "we kicked off a Mu'ammar, but another came ".

While we were talking about how the revolutionary process in Libya developed, he recounted how it had been organized since 2006, where following a caricature that mocked Muhammad, publicized by an official of the Italian Government, a protest was held in the Embassy. A young child under 15 climbed on roofs and snatched the flag from the European country.

On seeing this, the scourge of the pro imperialist Qadafyist guard, having to defend the dictator’s shares in Fiat responded by firing to kill. The death of this young boy caused the anger of the protesters, who attacked against the Embassy and the army, facing them with rocks, sticks, petrol bombs and "gelatin" (which are bombs fishers pull into the sea to kill fish and then pick up the fishing).

After the clashes, where even government buildings and police stations were burned, the combatants had to retreat due the brutal repression which followed then (intelligence by political police, persecutions, kidnappings and torture).

Having started in 2006, said the militiaman, on February 17, 2011 these same young people were the vanguard that, during three days of combat, they divided the army and defended the city from the siege by Qadafy. And with fervor he remarked that on March 17, after two days where the masses of Benghazi kept on the Qadafyists, the dictator’s army reached the gates of the city and was defeated by the workers and the poor people in arms. With the method of the civil war, Qadafy was defeated before the bombing of NATO aircraft, which arrived at 5 in the afternoon, when the winning side of the battle had been already defined.

This young man concluded his account by saying: "we started this and we will not stop until it has been completed. Either we conquer what we seek, or die and go to paradise. We have nothing to lose, because now we have nothing".
