Mexico

To the students organizations, federations and unions of Latin America and the world:

On September 26th it happened in Mexico one of the worst massacres that our people experienced. The Mexican state, in conspiracy with the drug traffic, attacked a group of students of the rural high school of Ayotzinapa with impunity. As a result of the attack, 4 students were killed and 43 students are currently missing. This attack happens in a national and international scene of a deepening in neo-liberalism, particularly, in education privatization.
Facing this horrible scenario, thousands of students and youth decided to take to the streets to show condemn and consolidate a unitary response. In fact, last October 8th a national protest day was staged, with important shows of solidarity in several places of the world. However the response of the State is absent. The case has not been resolved and the 43 comrades are still missing. In this context, students, workers and women have decided to promote a second national and international day of struggle in solidarity with the students of Ayotzinapa for October 22nd.
Gathered together in an assembly, the students of the Art and Literature College of the National Autonomous Mexico University (UNAM) make a fraternal call to the students organizations, federations and unions for that day, within their possibilities, to stage protests at the consulates and embassies of Mexico across the whole world to demand the appearance –alive- of the disappeared and the punish to the material and intellectual responsibles of the massacre.
